Self-Standing Loading Docks Eliminate The Need For Excavation!

Self-Standing Loading Docks Eliminate The Need For A Costly Excavation!

Blog Post Courtesy of Applied Handling, Inc.

It’s the month of DOCKTOBER!!!  All month long we will be blogging about mobile and freestanding dock options.  Enjoy our first one!

CHALLENGE

The customer occupied a grade-level building with no simple tie-in for drainage.  To enable it to expand operations, the company needed two dock positions installed at this section of the building.  They did not, however, want to spend over $100,000 for the required excavation and drainage.

SOLUTION

An alternative to loading dock construction was to install a 24’ long x 32’ wide free dock platform large enough for two loading docks, maintain security and control the loading environment.

The unit included Safe-T-Lip® levelers, Dok-Lok® trailer restraints, shelters and doors that all matched current equipment used at the conventional loading dock. For access, a 30’ long x 8’ wide ramp and dual ship’s ladders were provided.  Full guarding with an impact barrier was placed in needed positions.  The total cost of the project was less than original estimates just to build the exterior dock approach.
