Stop Risking Safety With Sub Par Dock Locks

As loading docks face an unprecedented mix of truck and trailer types, including 5-sided pentagonal rear impact guards (RIGs), outdated restraints and dock locks are leaving loading docks exposed.

With 100+ dock patents under its belt, Dockzilla has pioneered a universal vehicle restraint system. The team of engineers ran relentless scenario testing, refining features to create the ultimate dock lock. Not only does it better protect loading operations, it installs fast to minimize downtime.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is a vehicle restraint, and why do I need one?

A vehicle restraint (also commonly referred to as a dock lock) is like a safety anchor. It physically locks a trailer into place at your loading dock so it cannot move during loading. Vehicle restraints help prevent trailer creep, early departures, landing gear collapses and trailer upending and pop-ups.

Why is the Dockzilla’s restraint better than a standard "dock lock"?

Dockzilla redefines industry standards with a 13” restraining zone that secures more trailers, including new 5-sided RIGs. It is the only restraint built with an industrial-grade steel extension spring backed by a lifetime warranty, eliminating quarterly servicing required for gas springs. The low-profile, non-impact design prevents RIG damage while accommodating lift gates and vans, and the automatic LED safety light system maintains communication by signaling status to dock employees, forklift operators and truck drivers simultaneously.

What trailer types can it secure?

Dockzilla’s Universal Vehicle Restraint is designed to safely service a wide range of trailer RIGs, including traditional 4-sided RIGs and today’s new 5-sided RIGs. The low-profile design also allows it to accommodate lift gates and vans at the same loading dock position.

Is Dockzilla’s restraint OSHA compliant?

Absolutely. The restraint actually exceeds OSHA standard 29 CFR 1910.178. When paired with the Dockzilla Dock House Exterior Leveler, integrated controls automatically sequence dock equipment operation to maximize safety.

How does this unit handle weather or debris?

The vehicle restraint is stored in a durable powder-coated frame with guarding to reduce debris build-up. All springs and external components are shielded with integral covers. Optional snowplow deflectors and flood-resistant packages are available. Our standard control panel enclosure is a NEMA 3R (optional 4 or 4X).

Can’t I just use manual wheel chocks?

Wheel chocks are a gamble. They slip out of place, get lost and, most importantly, rely on someone actually remembering place them. Dockzilla provides a physical, automated vehicle restraint that is synchronized LED light system. It eliminates miscommunication between drivers and dock workers—the impetus of most loading dock accidents— with clear red/green signals.

How fast can the Dockzilla restraint be installed?

We know downtime = money. Our turnkey install includes all low-voltage wiring from the control box to the restraint. It requires less site prep than traditional high-voltage alternatives, so you get up and running faster.

What is the warranty coverage for Dockzilla’s Universal Vehicle Restraint?

  • Lifetime Warranty: Industrial steel extension spring.
  • 5-Year Warranty: Structural components.
  • 1-Year Warranty: Workmanship and components.
