Summary

Dockzilla Co. has defined a new category in material handling & distribution, helping customers re-envision their loading and logistics operations with heavy-steel loading docks, ramps, platforms, and modular buildings. In line with the sharp increase in Ecommerce order fulfillment and last mile home deliveries, our product offering has evolved to meet customer demand for custom-designed, modular structures for warehousing and expedited distribution.

Dockzilla is looking for a Supply Chain Manager to lead its procurement efforts and maintain appropriate inventory levels throughout the manufacturing network. This candidate will be responsible for procurement of a broad range of material and components necessary to support manufacturing and timely delivery of our products, including pre-determined and new components sourced from an existing allied vendor group as well as researching, vetting, and establishing new sourcing partners.

The Supply Chain Manager will play a critical role in sustaining production of our products in an efficient, cost effective manner while maintaining stringent quality standards. Given current supply chain disruptions, the ideal candidate will possess critical thinking skills and the ability to create outside the box solutions. This position reports to our Director of Manufacturing & Supply Chain, and works closely with the Sales Engineering and Project Management teams to translate Sales Order items to purchased inventory to fulfill project needs.

This individual will contribute to the growth and profitability of our company by recommending and implementing process and program improvements in support of our corporate goals. The Supply Chain Manager at Dockzilla will be eligible to participate in the company’s quarterly bonus program that rewards employees when business goals are achieved.

Key Accountabilities

  • Work closely with Project Management on new projects/orders; consult with Director of Manufacturing, Director of Sales, and Chief Engineer regarding design solution and sales program fulfillment
  • Work closely with Sales Engineers to understand the customer application within the steel structure and portable loading dock space to appropriately source, order, and support designed solutions
  • Manage vendor supply chain to ensure it meets project timelines with materials/components and create/implement contingency plans with Production Planning and Manufacturing when inventory availability commitments are at risk and initiate work-around activities
  • Negotiates with suppliers on cost reductions, lead time reductions, and overall improvements in quality
  • Maintain established target inventory levels for items as assigned while meeting annual budget targets
  • Prepare requests for quotations (RFQ’s / RFP’s), analyze supplier responses, negotiate pricing and confirm purchase orders within budgetary limitations and scope of authority
  • Collaborate with strategic sourcing in identifying new sources of supply for finished goods and components
  • Participate on new product development activities and ensure that deliverables as defined in project charters are successfully implemented for purchasing and production planning related deliverables
  • Collaborate with Quality Assurance, Strategic Sourcing and Engineering teams to audit and approve suppliers
  • Performs negotiations and determines most competitive solutions, using a wide degree of creativity and latitude
  • Take the lead role in proactively seeking out and establishing suppliers and strategic alliances where appropriate
  • Continually improve supplier performance to ensure optimum value for Dockzilla and its customers
  • Participate in the development and implementation of systems and procedures in support of managing the supply chain. Maintain related forms and procedures
  • Additional duties as assigned

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Accounting, Inventory Management, or related field
  • Microsoft Office skills including effective MS Excel skills
  • 5+ years experience managing suppliers and outside vendors
  • 5+ years experience with a strong track record of high performance, cost savings, leadership and demonstrated competency in procurement, supply chain, or related field
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment is a plus

Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to negotiate and manage supplier agreements for high risk / strategic suppliers
  • Strong interpersonal skills and experience working on cross functional teams
  • Strategic sourcing experience a plus
  • Ability to manage high complexity projects within department
  • Minor Travel, post pandemic

Physical Requirements

  • Report into Dockzilla’s Minnetonka, MN based office
  • Sit or stand for 8-10 hours per day while on the phone or working with a computer
  • Ability to travel overnight 10% to 20% of the time
  • Work occasionally after hours or on the weekend
